MASTERCHEF SERIES 5 RETURNS ON BBC TWO
Britain's premier amateur cooking competition returns on BBC TWO from January 5th with presenters and judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace back at the helm.

The eight-week series runs from Monday to Thursday with half hour programmes at 8.30 pm Mon-Weds and an hour episode 8pm on Thursday nights.
This year the competition is hotter than ever - as the contestants are put through a variety of tests designed to test whether they have the skills and character to make it as a professional chef.
Each night 6 hopefuls attempt to make it through their heat where they face 3 tough tests. The Mystery Box test - where they have to invent a dish from scratch using only the ingredients they've been given, The Pressure Test - working a busy lunch service at a top London restaurant, and the Final Test - creating an exquisite two-course meal to wow the judges.
Only one person can go through to the quarterfinal in the second half of Thursday's hour long shows.
132 amateurs start the competition believing they've got what it takes - but only one will be crowned Masterchef 2009.
