Britain’s Best Bakery is a national search for the best independent, family run or community bakery. Over 4 weeks and 20 episodes bakeries from all over the UK compete in a series of baking challenges that put their skills to the test and make viewers mouths water.
Along the way the series shines a light on baking in the UK and all its delicious shapes and sizes. But this competition isn’t just about Victoria sponge and scones – it’s a celebration of everything from organic artisan breads and rare Bedfordshire Clangers to baklava and pandan cake.
Britain’s Best Bakery reveals fascinating stories about us and our history through these pastries, breads and cakes. We’ll get to know the people who create and bake them, the stories behind them, the places to find them and the people who love to eat them.
We’ll meet traditional baking families with top secret recipes passed down the generations and hear stories of immigration through Chinese, Turkish and Greek bakeries and the amazing baked goods they make to recreate a taste of home.
Two big names from the baking world judge the competition, visiting each bakery and setting tricky baking tasks – all building to the final dramatic episode where they crown Britain’s Best Bakery.
This show launches on Monday 26th November airing Monday - Fridays until 21st December 2012 with 20 episodes on ITV1 at 4pm.
